At Queensland Designer Homes, we don't just design homes—we design homes for family wellbeing. Over the last 10 years, QDH has established a strong reputation in the residential building design space in Brisbane as one of the leading mid to high-end family home custom new home & renovation design specialists. With an established client base of referring private clients and amazing builders, and it's time for us to grow to help more Brisbane families design their dream homes with us.

We’re always on the lookout talented, motivated Building Designer / Draftsperson to join us. As a part of a small, growing team, you’ll be an integral part of a forward-thinking company, working closely with the managing director, with room to grow alongside the business.

• Specialist Training:  Specialise in residential home design, particularly renovations, on challenging sites. Being involved throughout the design & drafting process, you'll be 'hands'-on' with all our custom residential designs - something you won’t always get in larger firms.

Your Duties:

• Work closely with the Managing Director to develop designs into plans,
• Meet with and communicate with clients (via phone & email) - often alongside the managing director,
• Measure up existing homes and buildings in detail,
• Conduct property research and establish design briefs for projects,
• Produce detailed building design plan sets for Concept Design Development, DA, BA & Construction stage documentation including: site plans, floor plans, elevations, 3D views + slab, floor frame, electrical & lighting, wet area & joinery plans etc.
• Continually refine our templates, drawing standards
• Office duties, some administration and/or social media-related tasks- Flexibility of skills and the value you bring to the table is highly valued at QDH!

What We’re Looking For:
We want someone who’s not just qualified, but passionate about people, home design, problem-solving, and translating a client's home design dreams into a set of well-crafted, detailed, but easy to read plan sets.

• A minimum of a Diploma of Building Design or a Bachelor of Architectural Design (preferred but not required).
• 2+ years full-time experience - ideally in residential renovations in Brisbane (your insights matter here!).
• Expertise in Revit, AutoCAD, and MS Office is a must - knowing SketchUp and rendering software (Lumion or Twinmotion) is a bonus.
• A detailed understanding of the NCC, QDC, Australian Standards, and local council city plans (particularly Brisbane).
• Prompt, highly organized, self-motivated, and takes initiative.
• Willing to learn and take direction as part of a small team.
• Strong time-management skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines. 
• Strong communication and collaboration skills - we need someone who can build rapport with clients and work seamlessly within a team.
• Attention to detail is critical, with the ability to work independently with a high level of focus.
• Problem-solving skills - We are after someone who doesn't see problems - only challenges that need solutions, and that independently seeks to solve these challenges. The right candidate is energised by problem-solving!
