Timeless modern revival meets classic quarter-acre block living
Set on a sprawling 1000m² block in Boronia Heights, this once weathered and neglected property had been long overlooked — its aged façade and tired street presence hiding the true potential that lay beneath. But with the right vision, even the most forgotten homes can be reimagined into something beautiful.
Our mission was clear: To modernise, restore character, instill charm, and transform the home’s exterior into a true upgrade - something that felt both warm and inviting, yet bold and memorable.
The result? A complete façade revival a clean, modern design language, breathing new life into this once-tired brick home and giving this true family home (with significant sentimental value) the neighbourhood presence it deserves.

CHALLENGES & SOLUTIONS
This project was all about working with what we had — and making it shine. The home’s original exterior was classic 80's brick low-set living which felt tired & uninspiring, with patchy finishes and few strong design defining features.
To add further context and meaning to the project, the lady of the house grew up next door, and the home had been in the family for decades - with her parents still living next door! So, selling the home was not an option, and knocking it down completely and starting afresh was far less desirable than a thorough modernisation to bring the home into the 21st century - not to mention the nod toward our contribution to sustainable building design.
Rather than completely rebuild, we developed a strategy focused on refinement and redefinition - enhancing the structure’s form, giving the home a new roof-line, updating materials including introducing render and paint finishes and weatherboard cladding, and crafting a fresh, timeless visual language that would anchor the home on its generous quarter-acre block.

FACADE TRANSFORMATION!
|
|
Rather than rely on overly trendy finishes or unnecessary embellishments, this design leans into simplicity and structure. By redefining the home’s entry sequence, adding interest and balance to the roofline, and layering materials with intent, the façade was transformed into something elegant and cohesive.
Key improvements include:
The result is a home that no longer blends into the background — but instead stands proudly on its block, as a visual anchor for the street and a statement of what thoughtful design can achieve. |

INTERNAL COHESIONInternally, the finished home is unrecognisable, with a completely new roof line feature soaring raked ceilings, carefully placed windows and doors, and seamless indoor/outdoor connection.
The material palette contributes significantly to the warm, cozy feel despite the volumous space with timber highlights and dark tones bringing a sense of shape to the various productivity and relaxing spaces in the home. Outdoors, the home features timber ceilings to complete the cozy feel and lock in the homely feel. |
Design Outcome
Now, this once-forgotten property feels completely reborn — with elevated street appeal, timeless character, and a renewed sense of pride of place. It’s a stunning reminder that every home has potential. Sometimes, it just needs a little help to shine again.
We are truly proud of how this one.
